From 1998 to 2014, he was a professor of design at Seoul National University. He served as the 14th and 15th dean of the Seoul National University School of Art, the director of the Seoul National University Museum of Art, and the first director of the Design Seoul Metropolitan Government (vice mayor) from 2007 to 2009. As the head of the Design Seoul headquarters, he promoted multidimensional urban innovation programs. He was awarded the Creative Management Grand Prize 2009, the Korean Federation of Design Organizations' Achievement Award, and was awarded the Hwang Jo Geun-jeong Medal from the state. He served as the chairman of the Seoul Design Foundation, the chairman of the Korea Public Design Association, and the co-representative of the National Assembly Public Design Forum from 2014 to 2016, and as the chief design officer of the DBEW Design Center, he served as the president of the 8th Gyewon National University of the Arts from 2016 to 2019. Currently, he has served as the principal of Seoul Arts High School and the chairman of the Seoul Design Foundation since 2019. From Seoul to local governments across the country, he has created a sensation in urban innovation and creating good villages through design, and has led to the creation of national jobs in the design field.
